Sterline Burns was born on July 4, 1942 in St. Joseph, Louisiana to Ida Shields and Sterling Burns. She was the youngest of two.
Sterline graduated from Tensas Rosenwald High School of Louisiana. She came to Chicago at the age of 18 where she was a waitress and cook. In her later years she owned her own restaurant and building. She was always a very family oriented person and spiritual.
Sterline confessed her life to Christ many years ago where she spent her time being a nurse, missionary and mother. She was a faithful member of New Way Missionary Baptist Church but also attended virtual church with Pleasant Hill B. C. of Leesville and New Life B. C. of New Mexico.
Sterline Burns departed this life on April 27, 2024.
Preceding her in death were: Her parents, Ida Shields and Sterling Burns; one sister, Ophelia Howard; and one great granddaughter, Mahaghani Burns.
She leaves to cherish her memories: Her son, Charles (Rock) Burns; two granddaughters, Ophelia Joy (Michelle) and Chalena (Derrick); four great grandchildren, Peyton Star, La'Jayden, Hailey Joi and Bryce; and a host of other family and friends.
