Callie Mae Fane

January 2, 1933 — December 7, 2024

Callie Mae Johnson was born on January 2, 1933, to the parents of Marion and Callie May Johnson in Webb, Mississippi. She was the eighth child of 13 thirteen children. God graced her spirit with vigorous determination, beauty, charm, resilience and vision. She accepted Jesus Christ at a very early age.

Callie was a beautiful, passionate, witty and fashionable woman. She met her love John Arthur Fane and later married him on January 15, 1950, in Tippo, Mississippi. To this union six children were born.

In September of 1956, the family migrated to Chicago, Illinois.

Callie was raised in a family of believers in Christ Jesus, but her personal encounter with God started in 1978. She joined the Revelation Church of God in Christ and was baptized. Everyone who encounter her knew who she loved and worshipped her Lord God and his son Jesus Christ. She would praise God every Sunday and anywhere worship music was played. She was a faithful member until death.

Callie had an impeccable work ethic receiving various awards for the employee of the month, the best cook and many others. Her coworkers loved her. She retired from Mount Sinai Hospital after 30 years of service.

Callie had a quiet mystique surrounding the way she manifested herself. Everyone living in the Kedzie Building and her neighorhood noticed it. She was an effervescent light. People would say she was “dressed to the nines”. She was loved by her church members, friends, neighbors and especially her family.
