Catherine Moore, 73, of North Carolina, passed away on October 28, 2024 with her oldest and youngest child holding her hands.
Catherine, affectionately known as “Cat”, was born July 14, 1951 to Jim and Maxine Young in Detroit, Michigan. She graduated from Crane Tech in Chicago, IL
Catherine was baptized as a Jehovah’s Witness on April 3, 1965. She was a faithful servant of Jehovah and loved teaching the Bible to others. Even though her mobility was limited, she regularly participated in the ministry and often pioneered during special campaigns. She was also a regular pioneer in her younger years.
She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an undeniable generosity that could be seen in her care for her family and friends. She exuded warmth and kindness and brought immeasurable joy and light into our lives. That bright, cheerful and radiant smile with the traditional YOUNG family gap will be truly missed.
She devoted herself to being the best mother possible. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy.
Cooking became one of her passions. Cat could bake the most succulent cakes, butter cookies, sweet potato pies, and peach cobblers that would rival any bakery in town. We won’t even start to brag about her famous banana pudding. She loved sharing her recipes with the younger generation and would often stay on the phone with you throughout the entire process to make sure you were doing everything right. Whenever her children would cook, she had a habit of looking over their shoulder (whether they liked it or not) making it known what needed to be added to perfect their dish.
Cat was a globetrotter. A travel Enthusiast. Cruises, South Africa, Europe, Aruba, Mexico, and South America are just a few of her excursions. Gallivanting from one trip just to repack for the next one was a family joke about Cat. It was hard keeping up with her but we absolutely loved the fact she was out exploring the world and enjoying life to the fullest.
Catherine is preceded in death by: Her parents, Jim Young Sr. and Maxine Young; her brothers, Willie Young and Samuel Young; and her sisters, Henrietta Young and Elcenia Cameron.
She is survived by Anthony Moore; her children Brandi Jordan (Mitchell), Crystal Moore, Chianti Moore - Wiggins (Tim), Ariel Moore, and her only son, Michael Moore, along with a host of grandkids and great-grandkids who loved her very much. Catherine is survived by her siblings, Maxine Mickens, Ernestine Wells (Dean), Sheila Mitchell (Myron), Patricia Young (Nelson), Pamela Young, Valerie Young, Clawyon Young, Jim Young Jr., and Victoria Young. She also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews who loved their Aunt Cat, along with her long time friends, Sharon Hall, Vivianne Smith, and Glennda Brown.
