Deonta Daron Roberts was born in Chicago, Illinois, on October 23, 1978, to Sherry Roberts-Bohannon and Tony Tarver, who preceded him in death.
He graduated from Emmet Elementary School and went on to acquire his GED. Deonta moved away from Chicago to reside in Green Bay, Wisconsin. One of his first jobs there was as a custodial worker at a community college. He later became a correctional officer; taking pride in his work, displaying compassion, and respecting those he served.
Deonta loved action figures and cartoons as a kid, which developed into a love for action movies and comedy as an adult. Like mother like son, he loved drawing and creating. He had a memorable laugh paired with the perfect dry wit. His favorite movie was “Beverly Hills Cop!” He took his fitness very seriously. He could be seen visiting Chicago, riding around on one of his latest gadgets, which happened to be an electric bike. The bike was big and sturdy but just right for Deonta, who stood 6’1" and ensured his presence was felt in every room.
Deonta was a kind, gentle soul who loved his mom and family. He was a private person, but whenever he returned to Chicago, his first stop was always a visit with family, and it was like he never left!
He shared with family that he met the love of his life in 2019. Unfortunately, she passed from COVID at the same hospital where he was actively and simultaneously having open heart surgery. We were happy to hear that he found someone who could share in his zest for life and enhance his joy.
Deonta leaves to cherish his loving memory; his Mother, Sherry “CheChe” (Dennis); brothers, Curtis Roberts and Keyshawn Roberts; sister, Ashley Roberts; four nephews, KJ, Andrew, Ashtyn, and Taron; first cousins (who are more like siblings), Derrick “Rip”, Taron, Kevin, Eric (Tamika), Diedra (Dion), Kendra (Eric), Courtney, Sammy and a host of family and friends.
Deontas grandmother, Louise Roberts; and his aunts, Adrienne (Joe), Portia and Donna all preceded him in death.
