Dorothy Brown

Dorothy M. Brown was born into life to James and Mattie Lewis in Rosedale, Mississippi on June 16, 1954. Dorothy gave her life to Christ at an early age. She received her education in Rosedale, MS. On December 5, 1971, she welcomed her beautiful baby girl Ontounia. She was a young mother, but she loved her baby and made sure to raise her to be a productive young woman.

In the early eighties Dorothy met the love of her life Billy G. Brown who preceded her in death. The two were married for over two decades. Dorothy and Billy built a loving but firm foundation together where they raised five children. She was firm but always spoke with love, compassion and understanding. She loved to dance, listen to music, cook and be around family. Her great grandchildren affectionately called her "GiGi". She later joined Second Mount Vernon Church with presiding pastor McDonald.

Dorothy M. Brown was born into eternal life on Friday, November 22, 2024. She passed away peacefully at Regency Hospital in East Chicago, Indiana. She is preceded in death by: Parents, James & Mattie Lewis; brothers, James Lewis, David Lewis and Jimmie Lewis; son, Leon Brown; and her husband, Billy G. Brown.

Dorothy leaves to cherish: Her daughters, Ontounia Wilson (Kenneth) and Shantay Jones; sons, Marvin Brown and Michael Brown; bonus daughter, Labarbara Maxon; best friend, Latrona Moore; sisters, Bernice Wolf and Olivia Lewis; brothers, Sammie Lewis (Doris) and Tommy Lewis (Omni); grandchildren, Keyundra Hinton (Desmond), Quinton, Keyera, Kyle, Jill, Ethan, Sazyirie, Michael Jr., Lathan and Nasser; great-grandchildren, Natalia, Chase, Zayley, Zakari, Kai, Khaliyuh, Zyaire, Josiah, Zamir, Koa Khalani; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
