Edward Lee Adams

May 1, 1952 — November 26, 2024

Edward Lee Adams, affectionately known as Ed to some and Oward to others, was born on May 1, 1952 to Bonnie Mae Moore and Willie Adams in Anguilla, Mississippi. After relocating to Chicago, from Mississippi, Ed’s mother met and married Jeff Patton who instantly became a father and positive role model to Ed.

Ed accepted Christ at an early age and attended service regularly as a child.

Ed attended Marconi Elementary School. He later attended and graduated from Austin High School.

Ed was fortunate enough to retire in 2004 after dedicating 32 years of service to the City of Chicago Streets & Sanitation. Four years after retiring, Ed reentered the workforce and was employed at Amerit Fleet from 2004-2013.

Ed was a dedicated and fun loving father and grandfather. He was always laughing and joking with his family and friends. Some of Ed’s greatest passions were fishing, listening to the blues and playing cards. Ed had a love for driving, never hesitating to drive his mom to Louisiana at a moments notice. Ed was our very own GPS!

Ed started his eternal rest on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 5:27 pm, with his loving and devoted family by his side.

He is preceded in death by: His parents, Jeff and Bonnie Patton; his son, Jerome Burgess; his grandson, Demetrius Burgess Jr. “D.J.”; two siblings, Dorothy Johnson and Jeff Patton Jr; and his nephew, Anton Cooper.
