Ernestine Williams, passed away on October 3, 2024, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Ernestine was born on January 21, 1950, in Montgomery County, MS to the late Joe Ella and Mason Williams. Ernestine was the middle child, proceeded in death by her brother James Otis. She was a loving mother, devoted sister, and cherished friend.
Ernestine gave her life to Christ early in life. She discovered her love of math and English while attending Marshall High School and taking classes at Bradley University. After college, she began working at Yearbook Publishing Company and held various roles in billing and accounting. In November of 1972, she welcomed her daughter, Sheryce, Danita to the world, while raising her daughter she excelled in her career with various companies until she retired.
Ernestine's life was filled with a variety of passions. She found joy in reading, music, and television, which brought her great pleasure throughout the years. Her love for travel allowed her to explore new places and create lasting memories. She was strong-willed and stubborn at times but was always there to protect her loved ones.
In the mid 1980’s, Ernestine met her soulmate, James Gilmore, who proceeded her in death. Over the 38 years they shared a devoted love for each other. Although they had opposite personalities, they brought out the best in each other and were inseparable until the end. She leaves behind: Her beloved children, Sheryce Young (Jonathan), Kemesha Gilmore and Kenton (Kina) Gilmore; grandchildren, Jalon, Justin, Jada, Tyler, Jakobe, Jakari, Alexander, Journey, Ayden, Isabella; great-grandchildren, Amora and Jalayia; as well as her sister, Jereline Williams; nephew, Bryan Williams; sister-in-law, Carmen Williams; and an aunt, an uncle and a host of cousins.
Rest in peace, Ernestine. Your memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved you.
