Floyd Bell was born on March 30, 1931 to Hattie and Homer Bell in Bienville, Louisiana. Floyd was a member of Shiloh Baptist church and accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. He attended Shady Grove High School and after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served two (2) years (1951 to 1953) and received an honorable discharge. Floyd loved the military and was proud to be a United States veteran.
Upon his release from the US Army, he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico for several years and from there he moved to Kansas City for some time. He made his permanent home in Chicago, IL and started his own plumbing business, Bell & Sons Plumbing. Floyd and his sons ran their successful plumbing business for over 30 years.
Floyd was called to eternal rest on September 1, 2024. He was 93 years young. Floyd will be remembered as having a great sense of humor, who loved to play dominoes, party hard and travel. Floyd was an outstanding man of character, and he would give you the shirt off his back. He was well loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Floyd is preceded in death by: His parents, Hattie and Homer Bell; his son, Floyd Kelly Bell; his two sisters, Fannie Mae and Dorothy Hughes; and his five brothers, Arnold Bell, Johnnie Bell, Claude Bell, Joe Bell and Leroy Bell.
Floyd leaves to cherish his precious memory: His wife, Lasandra Smith-Bell; one daughter, Zoraine Bell; two sons, Russell Bell and Rashee Bell (Myra Bell); one sister, Minnie Thomas; eight grandchildren, Lavera Davis (Darren Davis), Veronica Coleman (Jeremiah Coleman), Angela Bell, Millie Vance, Kevin Bell, Kerry Bell, Rasheeda Bell and Destyni Triplett; two step sons, Robert Rhodes and Patrice Maholmes; three step daughters, Felicia Bell Williams Triplett, Angelic Smith (Tim Cooper) and Karla Smith-Fisher (Jimmie Fisher); and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
