Deacon James Hayes

Dec. James Hayes (James C) was born March 31, 1936 to the late Lacy & Eugene Hayes in Crenshaw, MS. James C confessed a hope in Christ at an early age at Bethlehem Healing Temple with Bishop Charles Poole. He later joined Zion Hill M.B. Church as an Deacon under the leadership of Pastor Oscar Watson, Obedient M.B. Church under Pastor James Brown & New Beginnings Outreach Ministries under Pastor Robert Williams. 

James C attended the Mississippi School System. James C moved to Chicago, IL in 1953 and married the love of his life Clara Retta Hayes whopreceded him in death. The pair were married for 60 years prior to her passing. During their marriage, seven children were born. James, Willie, Patricia, Tammy, Cynthia, Arlean & Rochelle Hayes. James, Willie, Patricia & Rochelle preceded him in death.

James worked many jobs, including Alden’s Department Store as a Security Guard and Rembrandt Lamp Company as a Spot Welder, to a name a few.

James C was known by many. He enjoyed watching the Andy Griffith Show, Price is Right, Quartet Singing, loved telling & pulling pranks, he had a story for everything.

James C departed this life on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

James C leaves to cherish his memory: Three daughters, Tammy, Cynthia & Arlean all of Chicago, IL; eleven grandchildren, L. Kenyetta (William), Patrice, Terrence, Rolanda, Thomas, Kyle, Rochelle, Shayonte, Fredrick, Aaliyah all of Chicago, IL, Jabari of Tumwater, WA; twenty great grand-children, James, Derrick, Kashanna, Kashonti, Tyriss, Tonya, Thomas Jr, Tae’Vion, Tre’Vair, Tihiry, Taraji, Arionna, Adrionna, Amorianna, Brielle, Nyomii, Timarion, Trimayne, Tyquan and Nakhari; brother-in-law, Rev. Donald Cobbins of Chicago, IL, four sisters-in-law, Dorothy Thornton, Wood-land, PA, Eddie Mae Dobyne, St. Paul, MN, Alice Hayes, Chicago, IL and Sarah Hayes, Lambert, MS; and a host of very special relatives and friends.
