James Palmer

James J.W. Palmer was born into life on July 25, 1950 to Rosie Mae Palmer. J.W. was raised by his great-grandfather, Johnny Rose, who preceded him in death.

J.W. accepted Christ at an early age. He left Tchula and moved to Chicago at an early age for a better life. J.W. was a great man. 

J.W. gave love and love is what he received. He loved hanging out with family and friends, playing cards, dominoes, fishing and listening to the blues.

J.W. worked for Campbell Soup until they closed. He then worked in construction until his retirement. J.W. was a hardworking man.

On June 18, 2024 at 12:20 a.m., J.W. took his peaceful rest from all his pain and suffering, from his battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by: His mother, Rosie Mae Palmer; sisters, Annie B. Palmer and Charlie (Micky) Evans-Jones; grandson, Romello I. Palmer; granddaughter, Aziul (Sugar) Warren; and his companion, Margaret Woods.

He leaves to cherish: His daughter, Jaywana Palmer Johnson and her mother, Louise Owens; son, Derrick Stapleton and his mother, Mary Stapleton; three grandchildren, Kira Master and Josiah; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Sammy L. Evans; sister, Katherine Evans-Anderson; a favorite niece, Lasonya Evans; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and lifelong friends.
