Jaylin Williams

Jaylin Kennedy Cooper Williams made his entrance into this world on February 19th 2003 in
Chicago, Illinois. As a small child, Jaylin’s heart was truly one of the biggest, and as he grew
into adulthood it remained the same. Sweet, Sensitive, Loveable, and Humble are words that
perfectly describe Jaylin. Jaylin was affectionately known to his family as “Pooda” or “Pooh
Dear.”

Jaylin gave his life to Christ at a very early age and was a member of Union Star Missionary
Baptist Church in Chicago, Illinois under the leadership of Pastor Freddie Brooks.
Jaylin attended Biedler Elementary School and was excited to join the boys’ basketball team.
Biedler was the place where his love for basketball developed. Jaylin continued his secondary
education at Farragut High School, where he met his life-long friends Rex, Mikal, and Miqwon
while there. Jaylin attended prom in April of 2022 and graduated with his high school diploma
in June of 2022.

Jaylin continued his post-secondary education by attending Malcolm X College (City Colleges of
Chicago) to study Psychology. Jaylin was excited about resuming his studies during this Spring
semester.

Jaylin could ALWAYS be found trying to help in any way that he could, but especially in his
words “using my muscles” to get the job done. He was grandma’s baby and spoiled by us all!
As Jaylin grew into manhood, he maintained his kind-hearted and playful spirit.

His handsome face and beautiful smile could never be forgotten. Jaylin was loved more than
words can express, and his family was and is so eternally proud of the man he was becoming.

He leaves to cherish his memory: His maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Lisa Cooper; his
bonus grandparents, Darryl and Berniece McClay; maternal great grandmother, Florine Berry;
his mother, Nicole Williams Hartzol (preceded him in death); stepfather, Quitmon Hartzol
(Lashonda); biological father, Derek Monroe; paternal grandparents, Mr. Oscar Monroe & Mrs.
Debra Sawyer-Monroe; five maternal siblings, Malachi, Taylor, Alonte, Daisy and Naomi; three
paternal siblings, Malakai, Chamarie & Jaqwon; aunt, Ciera Cooper (CJ); uncle, Kenneth
Cooper Jr (Ronnette); three great aunts, Deidra, Alisha & Venisha; his favorite great uncle,
Kenny and great uncles, Leroy, Jeffrey Berry, Nathaniel, Dennis & Sonny Cooper, preceded him
