Jessie Lee Sanders Jr. was born on July 7, 1940 in Winona, Mississippi. He was raised and adopted by Hem Griffin who loved him and guided him to the great man he was today.
Jessie, known to some as “Jiggy” because he loved to dance, also loved fixing cars. He was an avid fisherman and collecting cars and trucks was his passion. Jessie loved the road, he traveled around the world as a truck driver, then as a construction worker. He was also a police officer and sometimes worked as a security officer for the Apollo Theater. He lived a prosperous life. Jessie L. Sanders departed peacefully at his home on September 4, 2024. His father, Jessie Sr.; two brothers, Bobby Lee and LC; and stepdaughter, Eva Dabbs all preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn: His wife, Cecilia Sanders; his partner for life, Addie Dabbs ; two brothers, Percy and Ben James ;one sister, Marie; ten children, Debra, Denise, Doreen, Desiree, Darren, Danny, Dennis, John, Dorothy and Jessie III; six stepchildren, Carnell, Camilla, Johnella, Desiree,
Harriet and Kenneth Blake (Bogie); a host of grand-children, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends; his “lil man” who brought joy to his life, Kyrie; and special friend, Emma Johnson.
