Juanita Tucker

July 12, 1942 — September 19, 2024

Juanita Tucker was born on July 12, 1942, in Shaw, Mississippi to her loving parents, Nathaniel and Mattie Appleton who both preceded her in death. Juanita was the 5th child out of 20 children.

Juanita was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend, whose life was deeply rooted in her faith. She was also a God-fearing woman who let her faith guide her every step of the way. On February 2, 1968, she married Willie Tucker, and together they raised four children: Tyrone “Bobby” Appleton, Ruby Tucker, Bernice “Niecy” Tucker, and Darlene “Bookie” Tucker. Juanita was preceded in death by Willie, Niecy, Bobby, and Bookie, and she carried their memories in her heart.

Juanita was known for her love of card games and her spirited personality, always welcoming family and friends to join her-just remember to bring your quarters! Her warmth, humor, and strength will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She departed this life on September 19, 2024 at 5:29 p.m.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories: her daughter, Ruby; her grandchildren: Anthony, Dawone, Alvin, Shanita, Sharia, Deshaun, Danarius, Tamira, Tiffany, DeAngelo, Tevin, Angeliqic, and Monique; one daughter-in-law, Debra Rush-Appleton; Five sisters: Pearline, Minnie Dee (Larry), Irene, Barbara Jean and Josie Lee (Robert Davis); and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. No life is ever complete without friends that have endeared and enriched our lives along the way. A special mention to people who meant so much to her: Two special cousins (who were more like sisters) Rosemary and Johnnie Mae; “Adopted daughters”: Larhonda, Marilyn, Brandi, Angie, Sonja, Kiesha and Dina; Nieces (daughters): Juanette, Mattie and Faye; Nephew (son): Michael; good friends: Annie Ray and Mary Childs; and a faithful companion, Kobe.
