Mae Ella Simon

Mae Ella Wright Simon was born on August 31, 1938 to the late Savannah Hughes and Amos Wright. She was born in Poplar Grove, Arkansas. She attended M.M. Tate High School in Marboro, AR.

In 1956, Mae came to Chicago and was united with James Simon. Together they raised their six children.

Mae Ella attended Malcolm X College, where she received a degree in Nursing. She also attended Control Data and received a certificate in Computer Science. She worked at Charles Dicken as a Child Welfare Specialist. Mae retired from Chicago Transit Authority, where she worked for many years.

One of Mae’s favorite activities was traveling on different casino trips with her special niece, Gloria. She also was a great cook and she loved to sew.

Mae departed this life on July 30, 2024. She is preceded in death by her children. James Christopher, Felechia and James William Simon III.

She leaves to cherish her memories: Three daughters, Eloise (Tutti), Savannah and Charlotte; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. She will be truly missed.
