Preston Dobyne

Preston Dobyne was born on September 20, 1926 to Thomas and Minnie Dobyne. He was born in Centerville, Alabama, located in Perry County. Both parents preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his other siblings: Two brothers, Paul and Lee Dobyne; and eight sisters, Bertha Melton, Verdia Melton, Mamie Dobyne, Horn-buckle, Jennie Melton, Corene Heard, Ruby West and Willie D.Barker.

Preston attended and confessed his hope in Christ at an early age at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.

Preston married Mary Sue Lundy Dobyne in 1948 and they lived on the west side of Chicago, where they joined Central Memorial Missionary Baptist Church in 1956, under the leadership of Pastor Hubbard.

Preston taught Sunday School class there for many years and was an excellent teacher. He then continued to teach a bible class at a neighborhood senior citizen building.

Preston was skilled at electricity, plumbing and carpentry.

Mr. Preston is survived by: Three children, Aisha K. Dobyne-Ramos, DeMarco Lundy Dobyne and Sargent Dobyne. His son, Peter Dobyne preceded him in death.
