Romeo Ikaika Grant

Romeo Ikaika Grant was born in Oak Park, IL to Shundale Connor-Buckley and Romero Grant.

Romeo began his education in Chicago, IL where he attended St Angela Catholic School. His education continued in Maywood, IL, where he attended Garfield Elementary School and Irving Middle School, where he graduated 8th grade. Romeo was determined to graduate high school. He enrolled in The Peace Program at Proviso East High School. With an abundance of support from teachers and staff, Romeo graduated high school and received his diploma on June 8, 2024.

Romeo accepted Christ an early age. His love for his mother was unmatched. There was a special bond between them that grew stronger with each passing day. He was the epitome of a “momma’s boy” and was not afraid to show it. He was raised with an abundance of love.

Romeo was full of energy and loved life. Romeo was a respectful, kind, and loving young man. Romeo would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He loved helping his elderly neighbors and would cut their grass, take out their garbage, help with groceries, and check on them often. His love of travel has led him to several US states including Hawaii, and he has travelled abroad to London. Romeo was making plans to travel to Miami with friends after graduating high school.

Romeo lived life to the fullest. Romeo was just embarking on his journey of life. On July 8, 2024, Romeo entered eternal life.

He is preceded in death by his great-grandmothers Dorothy Wilson and Patsy Nerveza and grandfather Alexander Grant.

He leaves to cherish his fondest memories: His mother, Shundale Connor-Buckley & stepfather Don Buckley; his father, Romero Grant & stepmother Shirley Grant; grandfather, Vincent Connor; two grandmothers, Angel Nerveza and Beverly Grant; one sister, Shamero Williams; one stepsister, Syncere Buckley; two uncles, Randy Nerveza and Alexander Grant; three aunts, Tiara Callejo (Ethan), Kenyana Grant and Latoria Grant; girlfriend, Aaliyah Ivory; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
