Rosemary Swift was born May 14, 1948 in Chicago, IL to Bernard Swift and Ada Mae (Snead)
Swift. She was the first of five children with three brothers and a sister. Rosemary attended St.
Malachy Catholic School as well as John Marshall Metropolitan High School. She worked for
Chicago Public Schools and later in the hospitality industry. As a believer who accepted Christ as
her Lord and Savior at an early age, Rosemary was baptized and attended Malachy Church. She
gave birth to her only child Tanya Nanette Snead on January 16, 1963. Her only grandchild,
Toijuana Snead, was born October, 24 1985.
If you know Rosemary (also known as Swift) then you know she was sassy, jazzy and a fountain of
youth with an unforgettable personality. Unapologetically bold, beautiful and the life of the party,
there was never a dull moment in her presence. She knew how to have a good time and that made
her the top host in VIP sections at any event that she catered. She was the real VIP in her
community and her absence will be felt by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Rosemary was born into eternity on May 1, 2024.
Her transition is preceded by: Her mother and father, Ada Mae Snead and Bernard Swift; uncle,
James Snead; brother, Cramer Snead; and daughter, Tanya Snead.
To cherish her memory, remains: Her two brothers, Ronald Swift and Reginald Snead; sister, Denise
Snead; granddaughter, Toijuana Snead; great-granddaughter, A’yana Mullen; cousin, Eric Snead;
special friend, Doris; and a host of other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ms. Rosemary Swift touched the lives of many relatives, friends, and members within her
community and she will continue to hold a special place in all of our hearts.
