Sandra Marie Skipper

Sandra Marie Skipper was born on March 2, 1950, to Lula and Ignatius. She married Eddie Lee Smith and later became a devoted loving mother to; five children, Shimarr, Yolanda, Alexandra, Eddie Jr and Derrick; as well as her stepkids, Denise and Keith. All of these children she cherished deeply.

Sandra’s love and kindness extended beyond her own children. She embraced the role of matriarch of the west side Chicago Community, where she opened her heart and home to many. Regardless, of blood relations Everyone called her “Grandma.”

Sandra Skipper transitioned on Friday, November 15, 2024, at UIC Hospital.

Sandra is preceded in death by: Her husband, Eddie Smith; her parents, Lula and Ignatius; her two sons, Shimarr and Eddie Jr.; her only sister, Louella; four brothers, Ignatius, Timber, Grant, and Jerome; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She leaves behind a legacy of: Three children, Yolanda (Elijah), Alexandra (Lorenzo) and Derrick; twenty-two grandchildren, Shimarr, Shimarri, Shimarr, Shimarrion, Keisha, Shanea, Demonn, Shanika, Boshea, Michelle, Tyree, Destiny, Darnesha, Darnell, Shakita, Tameka, Lashanda, Domonique, Desiree, Taneisha, Eddie Jr, Derranique; 45 great grandchildren, Aaria, Amir, Ava, Keith, Keilani, Vosawn, Williams, Duvall, Chantell, Kendall, Lavell, Bella, Isabelle, Antonea, Crystal, Christopher, Christian, Chrishon, Chrishod, Carlton, David, Lil Dave, Lyric, Aaliyah, Ahmad, Harmony, Andrew, Isaac, Isaiah, Ida, Isis, Kingston, Da’riyah, Kesuan, Kaniyah, Armani, Sincere, Lavale, Kamyra, Santana, Safaree, Reshawn, John, Jaron and Alani.

“Grandma” Sandra’s memory will forever live on through us all. The stories and the love will continue to keep this family together. She will be deeply missed and remembered.

Sandra holds a special place in her heart for Irvin, Elijah, Robert, Darnell, Monte, Michael, Martha and a special nephew, Ronald Skipper and her favorite niece, Rochelle.
