Shelton Bennett

Shelton Bennett Jr. was born on May 27, 1949 in Winona, Mississippi to his parents, the late Earlie Mae and Shelton Bennett. He was the oldest of seven children.

Shelton attended church and accepted Christ at a young age. He graduated from JJ Knox School.

Shelton met and married his wife of 56 years in Winona, MS in 1968. They had known one another since they were kids. He worked at Hot Point for many years as well as Pactiv, where he retired.

Shelton really enjoyed his retirement and was committed to helping his family however he could. He had a chill, fun and loving spirit. Shelton departed us on September 2, 2024 at 4:29 p.m. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa Bennett and brothers, Charles Bennett, Levia Bennett and Lloyd Bennett.

He leaves to cherish his memories: His wife, Mary Bennett; daughter, Tammy Bennett-Smith (Howard); grandchildren, Tinesha Hamilton (Cody), Ashley Smith and Howard Smith Jr.; siblings, Patricia Clark (Henry) of Lansing, IL, Pearlie Cooper (Billy) and Elsie Bennett, both of Indianapolis, IN; great-grandchildren, Tamnesha Penner and Ny-Asia Hamilton; special friend/brother, James Williams; and a host of family and friends.
