One of the many functions of the Children First Fund is to assist with funeral arrangements for an untimely death of an active CPS student. This operation is housed in the Office of Faith Based Initiatives (OFBI) and the Office of Family and Community Engagement (FACE). 

The Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act of 2021 provides FEMA $2 billion to reimburse individuals and households for COVID-19-related funeral expenses incurred between Jan. 20 and Dec. 31, 2020.

The Crime Victims Compensation Program (Program) provides financial reimbursement to victims of violent crime who meet certain eligibility requirements.

The Illinois Department of Human Services Funeral & Burial Benefits program reimburses or pays for the funeral and burial expenses when a eligible person's resources and all other sources of payment are less than the DHS standard payment rates. The current reimbursement rate is:

• $1,370.00 for a funeral
• $686.00 for a cremation/burial

AOCCC Catholic Charities has recently implemented a Funeral & Burial Assistance Program. This program helps Catholics and non-Catholics who require financial need and will provide up to $4500.00 for funeral or burial charges totaling no more that $8500.00. 

V.A.C. Emergency Assistance for Qualified Veterans for Burials or Cremations. The family of a deceased veteran may be eligible to receive assistance for burial or cremation. Criteria: In order to determine eligibility to receive Burial or Cremation assistance, pertinent documents must be provided. Once eligibility is approved, a check will be mail to the appropriate Funeral Home or Crematory upon receipt of the Death Certificate.

If the choice is cremation, the family can choose any urn offered by Wilbert - engraving is included if the urn is one that can be engraved. If the cremated remains are buried, a Stainless Steel Triune® urn vault with a customized carapace is provided. 



If permitted, a WilbertWay® graveside service may also be included.
